I Started Walking!
I am proud to share some good news with you. I finally started walking! Yesterday after I put the kids on the school bus, I pulled up my hair, put on my shoes, and grabbed my MP3 player as I headed out the front door.
The early morning air was thick and muggy, but I would not be deterred. I plugged my earbuds in, turned on my music, and headed out…
Rather than mark my walk by mileage, I decided to walk by the minutes instead. At first I thought I’d walk 15 minutes. Since I don’t get any other exercise, I figured a quick, 15-minute walk would be a good start. By the time I reached the 15-minute mark though, I had just barely started to break a sweat. So I walked on for another 15 minutes.
When I finished with my first 30-minute walk, I was hot and sweaty, but I felt wonderful. More than feeling physically well, I was so proud of myself for getting out and just doing it. (I’ve been putting off walking for way too long.)
My goal right now is to walk 2-3 times per week. Early morning walks once the kids are headed off to school are the best way to start my day. Keeping my motivation high may prove to be challenging, but I need this.
Are you getting enough exercise? What form of exercise do you do?

yay! exciting! Have you thought about picking up a pedometer? its funt otrack your steps, and it kind of turns into a game to see how many steps you can get in a day. Its great motivation.

Thanks Kelly! :) Yes, I actually do have a pedometer that I wear sometimes. I just have a hard time remembering to put it on.

I love walking. Be sure to get sturdy walking shoes - you would not belive the pain that comes from wearing ratty sneakers!
