Is It Possible to Write Away the Weight?
I’ve written before about keeping a food journal while you lose weight. I’ve given you a free printable Weight Watchers food journal (adaptable to any diet). But I’m still wondering if you utilize a journal as you lose weight.
I read an interesting (short) article on the CBS 3 website regarding writing and weight loss. A lot of people are put off by journals because they have this idea that journals are like diaries with locks on them–for girly girls. But they’re not. You can keep a weight loss journal in any sort of notebook.
The source for this article states that she lost 55 pounds largely due to writing down what she ate. It made her more aware of what she ate, which in turn caused her to turn down some foods.
Writing down what you eat every day will definitely open your eyes and make you think twice before you put something in your mouth.
Do you keep a weight loss journal?

I keep WW points, which is like a food diary; I would probably get really depressed if I wrote down that I ate 20 cookies - which is the reason why I ate 20 cookies in the first place, so the cycle would continue. Probably better for me to just try to maintain a better emotional state - and keep a diary about that - and keep focused on my diet that way.

I know what you mean, Ellie. But your final point was one that I was hinting at. It’s about more than just writing down what you eat. I find it extremely helpful and educational to keep a note of my thoughts and feelings, and how they relate to what and when I eat.
